Why Bohzo

What Cardiff gets with Bohzo Accountants

The price is the price

Before we touch anything for a Cardiff client, the fee is in writing — and it stays put. Hourly billing doesn't exist here.

Everything done online

Upload, approve, filed. The whole engagement runs from your phone or laptop, on your schedule rather than office hours.

Real company, real accountability

Never miss a date again

Every filing date that applies to you goes in our diary the day you join — and we chase the records, not the other way round.

What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Traditional firms around Wales still run on hourly billing, office appointments and fees you discover after the work. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Cardiff.

There's no office to fund in Cardiff and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Questions

Accountants in Cardiff: FAQs

Do you have an office in Cardiff?

No — and that's deliberate. We're online accountants serving Cardiff and the whole UK: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, filings go to HMRC electronically, and the savings on premises show up in our fixed fees.

Which accounting services are available in Cardiff?

Every one of our accountancy services is available in Cardiff — from Self Assessment and company accounts to R&D claims, crypto tax and advisory work — plus national filing services like company formation changes, confirmation statements and VAT registration. Every one at a fixed fee.

I searched "accountant near me" — do you actually cover Cardiff?

Yes — Cardiff is fully covered. We're online accountants, so "near" works differently: no office to drive to, but same-day responses, filings handled for Cardiff businesses every week, and local detail like Wales deadlines and postcodes built into how we work. For most people that beats an office across town they'd visit once a year.

How quickly can you start?

Usually the same week. Message us on WhatsApp, get your fixed quote in writing, complete online onboarding (including the identity checks UK accountants must run), and send your records — most engagements start within days.

How do your fixed fees work?

Every job is quoted as one fixed price in writing before work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices — if something extra comes up, it gets its own quote first.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

The 31 January deadline, without the panic

Every year a wave of returns gets filed in the final days of January. It works, but it's the most expensive way to do it: no time to check for missed reliefs, and any tax due lands as one surprise. Sending your records early — even unsorted — is the single best gift you can give your January self.

Tax is a cash-flow event

Filing early doesn't mean paying early: submit a return in May and the tax is still not due until the usual dates. Early filing buys certainty, refund speed and time to arrange payment — it costs nothing.

Dividends: the allowance is small now

The tax-free dividend allowance is down to £500, so almost any director taking dividends now pays some dividend tax — and needs a Self Assessment return to report it. The classic small-salary-plus-dividends strategy still works; it just needs actual planning rather than folklore.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

The VAT registration threshold

Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.

Crypto is taxable — and visible

HMRC runs nudge-letter campaigns to crypto holders based on exchange data. If there are undeclared gains in past years, a voluntary disclosure is dramatically cheaper than waiting for the letter — penalties are scaled to cooperation.

Sole trader or limited company?

The honest answer changes with your profits. At lower profits, sole trader simplicity usually wins; as profits grow, a limited company's mix of salary and dividends, corporation tax rates and liability protection starts earning its extra admin. We run the actual numbers before recommending either.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Cardiff, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
