What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

A high-street accountant in South East typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. Our model inverts that: the fee is fixed and written down before work begins, questions are part of the service rather than billable events, and everything happens online — the reason Heath pays the same as everywhere else.

There's no office to fund in Heath and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

How it works

Bookkeeping in Heath: from first message to filed

Message us from Heath

Start with a message — no forms, no phone queue. Tell us what needs doing and we take it from there.

Fixed quote in writing

One fixed price before any work starts. Complex case? We say so now, not on the invoice.

Online onboarding

The legal bits — ID verification, engagement letter — happen online in minutes, then your records come in via the portal or WhatsApp.

Approve, then we file

We prepare, you check and approve, we submit — and you get the HMRC confirmation the same day it's filed.

Serving Heath

The same service in Heath as anywhere — by design

We built this service so that someone in Heath never pays a premium — or accepts worse service — because of geography. Same specialists, same published fees, same speed, wherever in South East you are.

Smaller towns like Heath are exactly why we work online: the nearest high-street firm may be a drive away, keep office hours, and price like scarcity. Your accountant should be as close as your phone — and priced like competition exists.

Questions

Heath bookkeeping FAQs

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent — whichever suits your business (or whichever you already use). Software subscription can be included in your monthly fee, and we handle all the setup and migration.

What counts as a transaction?

Each line on your bank statement — a payment in or out. Most one-person businesses sit comfortably under 50 a month. If you drift over your band we'll tell you before the fee changes, never after.

My books are months behind — can you catch them up?

Yes, catch-up bookkeeping is one of the most common jobs we take on. We'll quote a one-off fixed fee for the backlog, then a monthly fee to keep you current from there.

Do I need to visit an office in Heath?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Heath or anywhere else in South East.

I searched "bookkeeping near me" — is this service really local to Heath?

Heath is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Heath town centre or the edge of South East. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my bookkeeping?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

The 31 January deadline, without the panic

Online Self Assessment returns are due by 31 January, along with any balancing payment — and HMRC's £100 penalty applies the moment the deadline passes, even if you owe nothing. Most Heath clients who come to us in January still file on time; the records just need to arrive before the last week.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

Selling online, freelancing on the side, renting out equipment — each can be a "trade" in HMRC's eyes once it's done with a profit motive. The good news: registering is straightforward, expenses become claimable, and done early it's a non-event.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

Most self-employed people under-claim. Use of home, mileage at HMRC's approved rates, phone and broadband apportionment, trade subscriptions, training that updates existing skills — legitimate deductions left on the table add up to real tax overpaid year after year.

Penalties escalate on a timetable

Can't pay the bill by the deadline? File anyway. Filing and payment are penalised separately, and HMRC's Time to Pay arrangements can spread the bill — but only once the return is in. Not filing because you can't pay turns one problem into two.

IR35 and working through a company

Inside-IR35 and outside-IR35 engagements need different setups — sometimes umbrella, sometimes the company, sometimes both across a year. Contractors who plan this per-engagement keep more and worry less.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

The capital gains annual exempt amount has shrunk to £3,000, which pulls far more ordinary disposals — shares, crypto, second properties — into reporting territory. Gains that once fell under the allowance now need a return, even when the tax due is modest.

Corporation tax dates work differently

Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.

Bookkeeping that takes minutes, not weekends

The businesses that find January easy are the ones whose bookkeeping happened all year — automatically. Modern software matches bank transactions, files receipts photographed on a phone, and leaves nothing to reconstruct from memory in the new year.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Heath, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
