What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Most local firms near Lower Mountain quote low, bill by the hour and reserve the right to charge for every phone call. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Lower Mountain.

There's no office to fund in Lower Mountain and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Online onboarding

Identity checks, engagement letter, secure record upload — all handled from wherever you are in Lower Mountain. We chase whatever's missing.

Nothing is filed until you've seen and approved it. Once you have, submission is electronic and confirmation comes straight back.

Serving Lower Mountain

The same service in Lower Mountain as anywhere — by design

Lower Mountain sits in Wales, and like everywhere we serve, it gets the identical service and fee as central London — because nothing about our work depends on where you are. What matters is your situation, your records and your deadlines; all three travel over WhatsApp just fine.

A lot of our Wales clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.

Questions

Lower Mountain bookkeeping FAQs

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent — whichever suits your business (or whichever you already use). Software subscription can be included in your monthly fee, and we handle all the setup and migration.

What counts as a transaction?

Each line on your bank statement — a payment in or out. Most one-person businesses sit comfortably under 50 a month. If you drift over your band we'll tell you before the fee changes, never after.

My books are months behind — can you catch them up?

Yes, catch-up bookkeeping is one of the most common jobs we take on. We'll quote a one-off fixed fee for the backlog, then a monthly fee to keep you current from there.

Do I need to visit an office in Lower Mountain?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Lower Mountain or anywhere else in Wales.

I searched "bookkeeping near me" — is this service really local to Lower Mountain?

Lower Mountain is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Lower Mountain town centre or the edge of Wales. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my bookkeeping?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

The short version of the rules that matter

Crypto is taxable — and visible

HMRC runs nudge-letter campaigns to crypto holders based on exchange data. If there are undeclared gains in past years, a voluntary disclosure is dramatically cheaper than waiting for the letter — penalties are scaled to cooperation.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.

Making Tax Digital is coming for income tax

If you're a sole trader or landlord anywhere near the £50,000 income mark, Making Tax Digital will change your filing rhythm from 2026: four digital updates a year plus a final declaration. Clients who move their records to software early find the transition a non-event.

Corporation tax dates work differently

New companies often have a long first accounting period, which can mean two corporation tax returns for one set of accounts. It's normal, but it's exactly the kind of thing that's cheaper to get right first time than to unpick.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

The expenses rule is "wholly and exclusively" for the trade — which covers more than most people claim (proportionate home-working costs, business mileage, software subscriptions) and less than some hope (client entertaining, everyday clothing). Knowing the line is where the savings live.

IR35 and working through a company

If you contract through your own limited company, IR35 asks whether you'd be an employee without it. For medium and large clients, the status decision is theirs; for small clients, it's still yours — and getting it wrong in either direction costs money.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

The 31 January deadline, without the panic

Miss 31 January and the £100 fine is automatic; three months later daily penalties start. If you're behind on a return, the maths almost always favours filing quickly over waiting — penalties grow on a timetable, and HMRC charges interest either way.
