What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Most local firms near Roddlesworth quote low, bill by the hour and reserve the right to charge for every phone call. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Roddlesworth.

There's no office to fund in Roddlesworth and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

How it works

Bookkeeping in Roddlesworth: from first message to filed

Message us from Roddlesworth

Start with a message — no forms, no phone queue. Tell us what needs doing and we take it from there.

Fixed quote in writing

One fixed price before any work starts. Complex case? We say so now, not on the invoice.

Online onboarding

The legal bits — ID verification, engagement letter — happen online in minutes, then your records come in via the portal or WhatsApp.

Approve, then we file

We prepare, you check and approve, we submit — and you get the HMRC confirmation the same day it's filed.

Serving Roddlesworth

The same service in Roddlesworth as anywhere — by design

Whether your business trades from Roddlesworth itself or you simply live there and work everywhere, the tax rules are national — and so are we. Roddlesworth clients get the same preparers, the same fixed fees and the same deadline tracking as every other town on this site.

A lot of our North West clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.

Questions

Roddlesworth bookkeeping FAQs

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent — whichever suits your business (or whichever you already use). Software subscription can be included in your monthly fee, and we handle all the setup and migration.

What counts as a transaction?

Each line on your bank statement — a payment in or out. Most one-person businesses sit comfortably under 50 a month. If you drift over your band we'll tell you before the fee changes, never after.

My books are months behind — can you catch them up?

Yes, catch-up bookkeeping is one of the most common jobs we take on. We'll quote a one-off fixed fee for the backlog, then a monthly fee to keep you current from there.

Do I need to visit an office in Roddlesworth?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Roddlesworth or anywhere else in North West.

I searched "bookkeeping near me" — is this service really local to Roddlesworth?

Roddlesworth is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Roddlesworth town centre or the edge of North West. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my bookkeeping?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

The VAT registration threshold

Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

Your first year in business

Register with HMRC by the 5 October after your first tax year of trading, open a separate business account, and put a fixed slice of every payment aside for tax. Do those three things and your first January will be boring — the good kind.

IR35 and working through a company

If you contract through your own limited company, IR35 asks whether you'd be an employee without it. For medium and large clients, the status decision is theirs; for small clients, it's still yours — and getting it wrong in either direction costs money.

Making Tax Digital is coming for income tax

If you're a sole trader or landlord anywhere near the £50,000 income mark, Making Tax Digital will change your filing rhythm from 2026: four digital updates a year plus a final declaration. Clients who move their records to software early find the transition a non-event.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

HMRC receives data directly from online platforms about sellers' income. If a side hustle has grown past the £1,000 trading allowance, coming forward first is always cheaper than being written to — penalties scale with how the disclosure starts.

Landlord tax has its own rules

Since Section 24, individual landlords can't deduct mortgage interest as an expense — it's a 20% tax credit instead, which pushes some higher-rate landlords into surprising bills. Whether to hold property personally or through a company is now a genuine question with genuine trade-offs.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.
