What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Traditional firms around West Midlands still run on hourly billing, office appointments and fees you discover after the work. We work the other way round: one fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, every question included, and the whole engagement handled online — which is exactly why we can serve White Ball at fees a walk-in office can't match.

There's no office to fund in White Ball and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Serving White Ball

The same service in White Ball as anywhere — by design

Whether your business trades from White Ball itself or you simply live there and work everywhere, the tax rules are national — and so are we. White Ball clients get the same preparers, the same fixed fees and the same deadline tracking as every other town on this site.

A lot of our West Midlands clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.

Questions

White Ball bookkeeping FAQs

Which bookkeeping software do you use?

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent — whichever suits your business (or whichever you already use). Software subscription can be included in your monthly fee, and we handle all the setup and migration.

What counts as a transaction?

Each line on your bank statement — a payment in or out. Most one-person businesses sit comfortably under 50 a month. If you drift over your band we'll tell you before the fee changes, never after.

My books are months behind — can you catch them up?

Yes, catch-up bookkeeping is one of the most common jobs we take on. We'll quote a one-off fixed fee for the backlog, then a monthly fee to keep you current from there.

Do I need to visit an office in White Ball?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in White Ball or anywhere else in West Midlands.

I searched "bookkeeping near me" — is this service really local to White Ball?

White Ball is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in White Ball town centre or the edge of West Midlands. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my bookkeeping?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

The short version of the rules that matter

Making Tax Digital is coming for income tax

From April 2026, self-employed people and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 move onto Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: digital records and quarterly updates to HMRC, not one annual return. The year before is the right time to get bookkeeping into shape.

Payments on account, decoded

Payments on account catch people out because the first year effectively bills you one-and-a-half years of tax at once. Knowing that in advance changes how you save through the year — and if profits fall, we can apply to reduce the July payment rather than lending HMRC money interest-free.

Tax is a cash-flow event

Filing early doesn't mean paying early: submit a return in May and the tax is still not due until the usual dates. Early filing buys certainty, refund speed and time to arrange payment — it costs nothing.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

The trading allowance means up to £1,000 of gross side income per year can be tax-free with no return needed. Above that, registration and reporting kick in — and platforms now report seller data to HMRC, so "under the radar" isn't a strategy any more.

Sole trader or limited company?

Incorporation isn't a milestone, it's a calculation: corporation tax versus income tax and NICs, dividend taxation, what you need to draw versus what can stay in the company, and whether limited liability matters for your work. For some White Ball businesses it saves thousands; for others it's pure extra paperwork.

The 31 January deadline, without the panic

Every year a wave of returns gets filed in the final days of January. It works, but it's the most expensive way to do it: no time to check for missed reliefs, and any tax due lands as one surprise. Sending your records early — even unsorted — is the single best gift you can give your January self.

Switching accountants is easier than you think

The best time to switch is after a filing, but it works at any point in the year. What matters is not letting a looming deadline stop you: a new firm can usually pick up an in-flight year faster than you'd think.

Dividends: the allowance is small now

Dividends can only be paid from accumulated profits, and paperwork matters: board minutes and dividend vouchers, dated correctly. "Illegal dividends" isn't dramatic language — overdrawn payments can be reclassified, with tax consequences, if the profits weren't there.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in White Ball, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
