The price is the price

Never miss a date again

Every filing date that applies to you goes in our diary the day you join — and we chase the records, not the other way round.

Real company, real accountability

What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Most local firms near Barrock quote low, bill by the hour and reserve the right to charge for every phone call. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Barrock.

There's no office to fund in Barrock and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Serving Barrock

The same service in Barrock as anywhere — by design

We built this service so that someone in Barrock never pays a premium — or accepts worse service — because of geography. Same specialists, same published fees, same speed, wherever in Scotland you are.

Smaller towns like Barrock are exactly why we work online: the nearest high-street firm may be a drive away, keep office hours, and price like scarcity. Your accountant should be as close as your phone — and priced like competition exists.

Questions

Barrock corporation tax FAQs

What rate of corporation tax will my company pay?

19% on profits up to £50,000, 25% above £250,000, and marginal relief in between — an effective rate that climbs gradually. Associated companies split those thresholds, which catches many owners with more than one company. We calculate it precisely.

The payment is due before the return — is that right?

Yes, oddly: payment is due 9 months and 1 day after year end, but the return itself isn't due until 12 months. We prepare everything well before the payment date so you know the bill with time to plan.

Can you review whether I've missed reliefs in past years?

Yes — you can generally amend a CT600 up to 12 months after its filing deadline, and some claims reach back further. If you think allowances went unclaimed, we'll review and quote a fixed fee for any amendment worth making.

Do I need to visit an office in Barrock?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Barrock or anywhere else in Scotland.

I searched "corporation tax near me" — is this service really local to Barrock?

Barrock is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Barrock town centre or the edge of Scotland. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my corporation tax?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

The short version of the rules that matter

Landlord tax has its own rules

Since Section 24, individual landlords can't deduct mortgage interest as an expense — it's a 20% tax credit instead, which pushes some higher-rate landlords into surprising bills. Whether to hold property personally or through a company is now a genuine question with genuine trade-offs.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

HMRC receives data directly from online platforms about sellers' income. If a side hustle has grown past the £1,000 trading allowance, coming forward first is always cheaper than being written to — penalties scale with how the disclosure starts.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

The expenses rule is "wholly and exclusively" for the trade — which covers more than most people claim (proportionate home-working costs, business mileage, software subscriptions) and less than some hope (client entertaining, everyday clothing). Knowing the line is where the savings live.

Sole trader or limited company?

The honest answer changes with your profits. At lower profits, sole trader simplicity usually wins; as profits grow, a limited company's mix of salary and dividends, corporation tax rates and liability protection starts earning its extra admin. We run the actual numbers before recommending either.

CIS: refunds hide in the paperwork

Limited companies in CIS reclaim differently to sole traders — through payroll or the company tax return rather than Self Assessment. Plenty of construction companies sit on refundable deductions without realising; a quick review of the CIS position often pays for itself immediately.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.

Corporation tax dates work differently

New companies often have a long first accounting period, which can mean two corporation tax returns for one set of accounts. It's normal, but it's exactly the kind of thing that's cheaper to get right first time than to unpick.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Barrock, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
