The price is the price

Never miss a date again

Every filing date that applies to you goes in our diary the day you join — and we chase the records, not the other way round.

What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

A high-street accountant in South West typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Broadoak.

There's no office to fund in Broadoak and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Serving Broadoak

The same service in Broadoak as anywhere — by design

Whether your business trades from Broadoak itself or you simply live there and work everywhere, the tax rules are national — and so are we. Broadoak clients get the same preparers, the same fixed fees and the same deadline tracking as every other town on this site.

Smaller towns like Broadoak are exactly why we work online: the nearest high-street firm may be a drive away, keep office hours, and price like scarcity. Your accountant should be as close as your phone — and priced like competition exists.

Questions

Broadoak limited company accounts FAQs

My company hasn't traded — do I still need to file?

Yes. Even dormant companies must file accounts at Companies House and usually a confirmation statement. Our dormant package (£99) handles it all so you avoid penalties for a company that isn't even trading.

Which accounting standard will my accounts use?

Most small companies file micro-entity accounts under FRS 105 or small-company accounts under FRS 102 Section 1A. We pick the right one for your size and circumstances — it affects what's disclosed publicly at Companies House, and we'll explain the trade-offs.

Can you take over from my current accountant?

Yes — switching is easier than most directors expect. You tell your current accountant you're moving, we send a professional clearance letter, and they pass over your records. There's usually nothing else for you to do.

Do I need to visit an office in Broadoak?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Broadoak or anywhere else in South West.

I searched "company accounts near me" — is this service really local to Broadoak?

Broadoak is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Broadoak town centre or the edge of South West. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my company accounts?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

The short version of the rules that matter

Bookkeeping that takes minutes, not weekends

HMRC requires records to be kept for at least five years after the filing deadline for the self-employed. Digital copies count. A cloud folder or app now beats a carrier bag of paper every time — for you and for any future enquiry.

What to actually look for in an accountant

Compare accountants on the things that bite later: is the fee fixed and written down, what exactly is included, who does the work, how fast do they answer in January. Proximity to Broadoak stopped being the differentiator the day filings went electronic.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

The expenses rule is "wholly and exclusively" for the trade — which covers more than most people claim (proportionate home-working costs, business mileage, software subscriptions) and less than some hope (client entertaining, everyday clothing). Knowing the line is where the savings live.

Corporation tax dates work differently

Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.

Your first year in business

The first tax bill is the hardest because it can arrive with payments on account attached — up to 150% of the year's tax in one go. New businesses that save a quarter to a third of profits from day one never feel it.

Dividends: the allowance is small now

The tax-free dividend allowance is down to £500, so almost any director taking dividends now pays some dividend tax — and needs a Self Assessment return to report it. The classic small-salary-plus-dividends strategy still works; it just needs actual planning rather than folklore.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

HMRC receives data directly from online platforms about sellers' income. If a side hustle has grown past the £1,000 trading allowance, coming forward first is always cheaper than being written to — penalties scale with how the disclosure starts.

The VAT registration threshold

Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Broadoak, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
