Online accountants vs the high street
Most local firms near Cambridge quote low, bill by the hour and reserve the right to charge for every phone call. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Cambridge.
There's no office to fund in Cambridge and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.
Management Accounts in Cambridge: from first message to filed
A WhatsApp message from Cambridge is enough to start: what you need, what shape your records are in, any deadline you're worried about.
The quote arrives in writing, covers everything discussed, and is the number you'll actually pay. No revisions later.
Identity checks, engagement letter, secure record upload — all handled from wherever you are in Cambridge. We chase whatever's missing.
Nothing is filed until you've seen and approved it. Once you have, submission is electronic and confirmation comes straight back.
The same service in Cambridge as anywhere — by design
Whether your business trades from Cambridge itself or you simply live there and work everywhere, the tax rules are national — and so are we. Cambridge clients get the same preparers, the same fixed fees and the same deadline tracking as every other town on this site.
Smaller towns like Cambridge are exactly why we work online: the nearest high-street firm may be a drive away, keep office hours, and price like scarcity. Your accountant should be as close as your phone — and priced like competition exists.

Cambridge management accounts FAQs
What's the difference between management and statutory accounts?
Statutory accounts are the annual, backward-looking filing for Companies House. Management accounts are for you: frequent, current, and focused on decisions — margins by product, overhead trends, cash runway. Different job entirely.
Do I need bookkeeping in place first?
Yes — management accounts are only as good as the underlying records. If your books need work we'll bundle bookkeeping in, so the numbers are trustworthy from the first pack.
Monthly or quarterly?
Quarterly suits stable businesses watching trends; monthly earns its keep when cash is tight, growth is fast or decisions are frequent. Start quarterly and step up — the packs are designed to switch cleanly.
Do I need to visit an office in Cambridge?
No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Cambridge or anywhere else in East of England.
I searched "management accounts near me" — is this service really local to Cambridge?
Cambridge is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Cambridge town centre or the edge of East of England. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.
Who will actually handle my management accounts?
Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.
How do your fixed fees work?
You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.
Things worth knowing before your next filing
Inside-IR35 and outside-IR35 engagements need different setups — sometimes umbrella, sometimes the company, sometimes both across a year. Contractors who plan this per-engagement keep more and worry less.
Self Assessment lateness is priced in stages: £100 immediately, daily £10 penalties after three months (up to £900), then percentage-based charges at six and twelve months — all separate from interest on unpaid tax. The curve is designed to reward filing sooner, whatever the state of your records.
Register with HMRC by the 5 October after your first tax year of trading, open a separate business account, and put a fixed slice of every payment aside for tax. Do those three things and your first January will be boring — the good kind.
Since Section 24, individual landlords can't deduct mortgage interest as an expense — it's a 20% tax credit instead, which pushes some higher-rate landlords into surprising bills. Whether to hold property personally or through a company is now a genuine question with genuine trade-offs.
The tax-free dividend allowance is down to £500, so almost any director taking dividends now pays some dividend tax — and needs a Self Assessment return to report it. The classic small-salary-plus-dividends strategy still works; it just needs actual planning rather than folklore.
Limited companies in CIS reclaim differently to sole traders — through payroll or the company tax return rather than Self Assessment. Plenty of construction companies sit on refundable deductions without realising; a quick review of the CIS position often pays for itself immediately.
If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.
Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.
General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Cambridge, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
