What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

Most local firms near Mosser quote low, bill by the hour and reserve the right to charge for every phone call. We work the other way round: one fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, every question included, and the whole engagement handled online — which is exactly why we can serve Mosser at fees a walk-in office can't match.

There's no office to fund in Mosser and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Fixed quote in writing

Onboarding is a phone job: verify identity, sign the engagement letter, upload records. Nothing needs you to leave Mosser.

Approve, then we file

You review everything first. Then it goes to HMRC electronically and you get confirmation immediately.

Serving Mosser

The same service in Mosser as anywhere — by design

Mosser sits in North West, and like everywhere we serve, it gets the identical service and fee as central London — because nothing about our work depends on where you are. What matters is your situation, your records and your deadlines; all three travel over WhatsApp just fine.

A lot of our North West clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.

Questions

Mosser sole trader accounts FAQs

Do sole traders legally need accounts?

There's no Companies House filing for sole traders, but you must keep records supporting your Self Assessment — and proper accounts almost always save more tax than they cost, because expenses stop slipping through the cracks.

What expenses can I claim?

Anything wholly and exclusively for the business: materials, tools, mileage or vehicle costs, phone, insurance, home-office use, software, professional fees and more. Our job is claiming everything legitimate — clients are usually surprised by what they'd been missing.

My records are a mess — is that a problem?

Not for us. The 'shoebox' package exists precisely for carrier bags of receipts and a year of bank statements. We sort, categorise and build your accounts from whatever you have.

Do I need to visit an office in Mosser?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Mosser or anywhere else in North West.

I searched "accounts near me" — is this service really local to Mosser?

Mosser is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Mosser town centre or the edge of North West. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my accounts?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

Bookkeeping that takes minutes, not weekends

HMRC requires records to be kept for at least five years after the filing deadline for the self-employed. Digital copies count. A cloud folder or app now beats a carrier bag of paper every time — for you and for any future enquiry.

Crypto is taxable — and visible

Disposing of crypto — selling, swapping one coin for another, spending it — is a capital gains event, and staking or mining income is usually income. Exchanges share data with HMRC, so the tax position exists whether or not it's been calculated.

Making Tax Digital is coming for income tax

From April 2026, self-employed people and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 move onto Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: digital records and quarterly updates to HMRC, not one annual return. The year before is the right time to get bookkeeping into shape.

The 31 January deadline, without the panic

Miss 31 January and the £100 fine is automatic; three months later daily penalties start. If you're behind on a return, the maths almost always favours filing quickly over waiting — penalties grow on a timetable, and HMRC charges interest either way.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

Receipts win arguments. HMRC doesn't demand a shoebox of paper any more — photos in an app are fine — but every deduction needs evidence behind it. A ten-minute weekly habit beats a January archaeology dig, every time.

What to actually look for in an accountant

A good accountant should be able to tell you, in plain English, what they'll do, when, and for exactly how much. Vagueness on any of the three is the tell. Everything else — size of firm, fancy office, distance from Mosser — is decoration.

Payments on account, decoded

Payments on account catch people out because the first year effectively bills you one-and-a-half years of tax at once. Knowing that in advance changes how you save through the year — and if profits fall, we can apply to reduce the July payment rather than lending HMRC money interest-free.

Your first year in business

Register with HMRC by the 5 October after your first tax year of trading, open a separate business account, and put a fixed slice of every payment aside for tax. Do those three things and your first January will be boring — the good kind.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Mosser, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
