Why choose Bohzo Accountants in Stean?
Before we touch anything for a Stean client, the fee is in writing — and it stays put. Hourly billing doesn't exist here.
Upload, approve, filed. The whole engagement runs from your phone or laptop, on your schedule rather than office hours.
Bohzo Accountants is a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, Company No. 15031604.
Every filing date that applies to you goes in our diary the day you join — and we chase the records, not the other way round.
Compare our fixed sole trader accounts fees
| Your situation | Fixed fee |
|---|---|
| Year-end accounts from tidy records | £149 |
| Accounts + Self Assessment bundle | £229 |
| Accounts from a shoebox of receipts | £249 |
| Accounts + monthly bookkeeping | from £49/mo + £99/yr |
“From” pricing reflects the simplest case; anything more complex is quoted as a fixed fee in writing before work begins — and never changes after.
Online accountants vs the high street
A high-street accountant in East Midlands typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Stean.
There's no office to fund in Stean and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.
Sole Trader Accounts in Stean: from first message to filed
A WhatsApp message from Stean is enough to start: what you need, what shape your records are in, any deadline you're worried about.
The quote arrives in writing, covers everything discussed, and is the number you'll actually pay. No revisions later.
Identity checks, engagement letter, secure record upload — all handled from wherever you are in Stean. We chase whatever's missing.
Nothing is filed until you've seen and approved it. Once you have, submission is electronic and confirmation comes straight back.
The same service in Stean as anywhere — by design
We built this service so that someone in Stean never pays a premium — or accepts worse service — because of geography. Same specialists, same published fees, same speed, wherever in East Midlands you are.
A lot of our East Midlands clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.
Where we work around Stean
Stean is part of East Midlands, with Middlesmoor its nearest neighbour — about 0.6 miles to the north-east. Geography still shapes who people call, so here's Stean's: the same fixed-fee service covers every place on this list, at the same price.
| Nearby | Distance from Stean | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Middlesmoor | 0.6 miles | north-east |
| Lofthouse | 0.9 miles | east |
| Houses, New | 2.1 miles | north |
| New Houses | 2.1 miles | north |

Distances are straight-line, between place centres. Every listed place — and everywhere between — is served online at the same fixed fees.
Stean sole trader accounts FAQs
Do sole traders legally need accounts?
There's no Companies House filing for sole traders, but you must keep records supporting your Self Assessment — and proper accounts almost always save more tax than they cost, because expenses stop slipping through the cracks.
What expenses can I claim?
Anything wholly and exclusively for the business: materials, tools, mileage or vehicle costs, phone, insurance, home-office use, software, professional fees and more. Our job is claiming everything legitimate — clients are usually surprised by what they'd been missing.
My records are a mess — is that a problem?
Not for us. The 'shoebox' package exists precisely for carrier bags of receipts and a year of bank statements. We sort, categorise and build your accounts from whatever you have.
Do I need to visit an office in Stean?
No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Stean or anywhere else in East Midlands.
I searched "accounts near me" — is this service really local to Stean?
Stean is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Stean town centre or the edge of East Midlands. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.
Who will actually handle my accounts?
Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.
How do your fixed fees work?
You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.
The short version of the rules that matter
The expenses rule is "wholly and exclusively" for the trade — which covers more than most people claim (proportionate home-working costs, business mileage, software subscriptions) and less than some hope (client entertaining, everyday clothing). Knowing the line is where the savings live.
UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.
HMRC requires records to be kept for at least five years after the filing deadline for the self-employed. Digital copies count. A cloud folder or app now beats a carrier bag of paper every time — for you and for any future enquiry.
If you contract through your own limited company, IR35 asks whether you'd be an employee without it. For medium and large clients, the status decision is theirs; for small clients, it's still yours — and getting it wrong in either direction costs money.
The first tax bill is the hardest because it can arrive with payments on account attached — up to 150% of the year's tax in one go. New businesses that save a quarter to a third of profits from day one never feel it.
If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.
Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.
Auto-enrolment applies from the first eligible employee: assess, enrol, contribute, declare. The Pensions Regulator does check, and the fines for ignoring it are out of proportion to how simple compliance actually is.
