Why choose Bohzo Accountants in Inverness?
Before we touch anything for a Inverness client, the fee is in writing — and it stays put. Hourly billing doesn't exist here.
Upload, approve, filed. The whole engagement runs from your phone or laptop, on your schedule rather than office hours.
Bohzo Accountants is a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, Company No. 15031604.
Every filing date that applies to you goes in our diary the day you join — and we chase the records, not the other way round.
Compare our fixed startup accountants fees
| Your situation | Fixed fee |
|---|---|
| Launch: formation + registrations + accounts | £59/mo |
| Grow: launch + bookkeeping + VAT | £99/mo |
| Scale: grow + payroll + management accounts | £149/mo |
| SEIS/EIS advance assurance application | £299 |
“From” pricing reflects the simplest case; anything more complex is quoted as a fixed fee in writing before work begins — and never changes after.
Online accountants vs the high street
A high-street accountant in Scotland typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We work the other way round: one fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, every question included, and the whole engagement handled online — which is exactly why we can serve Inverness at fees a walk-in office can't match.
There's no office to fund in Inverness and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.
Startup Accountants in Inverness: from first message to filed
A WhatsApp message from Inverness is enough to start: what you need, what shape your records are in, any deadline you're worried about.
The quote arrives in writing, covers everything discussed, and is the number you'll actually pay. No revisions later.
Identity checks, engagement letter, secure record upload — all handled from wherever you are in Inverness. We chase whatever's missing.
Nothing is filed until you've seen and approved it. Once you have, submission is electronic and confirmation comes straight back.
The same service in Inverness as anywhere — by design
Inverness sits in Scotland (IV1), and like everywhere we serve, it gets the identical service and fee as central London — because nothing about our work depends on where you are. What matters is your situation, your records and your deadlines; all three travel over WhatsApp just fine.
A lot of our Scotland clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.
Where we work around Inverness
Inverness is part of Scotland, in the IV1 postcode area, with Inbhir Nis its nearest neighbour — about 0.1 miles to the north. Geography still shapes who people call, so here's Inverness's: the same fixed-fee service covers every place on this list, at the same price.
| Nearby | Distance from Inverness | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Inbhir Nis | 0.1 miles | north |
| Crown | 0.3 miles | east |
| Citadel | 0.5 miles | north |
| Millburn | 0.6 miles | east |
| Merkinch | 0.6 miles | north-west |
Distances are straight-line, between place centres. Every listed place — and everywhere between — is served online at the same fixed fees.
Inverness startup accountants FAQs
What is SEIS/EIS advance assurance and do I need it?
It's HMRC's provisional confirmation that investment in your company qualifies for SEIS/EIS tax relief — and most angels won't invest without it. We prepare and submit the application, including the business plan framing HMRC expects.
We haven't made any money yet — do we still need an accountant?
Your filing duties start at incorporation, revenue or not — accounts, confirmation statements, corporation tax registration. Getting software and structure right from day one is also dramatically cheaper than untangling a year of DIY records later.
Can you handle share options and multiple share classes?
Yes — growth shares, EMI options and investor share classes are common startup territory. We'll flag when you need a specialist valuation and handle the accounting and filings around it.
Do I need to visit an office in Inverness?
No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Inverness or anywhere else in Scotland.
I searched "startup accounting near me" — is this service really local to Inverness?
Inverness is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Inverness town centre or the edge of Scotland. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.
Who will actually handle my startup accounting?
Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.
How do your fixed fees work?
You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.
The short version of the rules that matter
HMRC requires records to be kept for at least five years after the filing deadline for the self-employed. Digital copies count. A cloud folder or app now beats a carrier bag of paper every time — for you and for any future enquiry.
Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.
Timing disposals across tax years, using losses properly, and the spousal transfer rules can all legitimately reduce capital gains bills — but only before the sale. CGT planning after completion is just arithmetic.
Disposing of crypto — selling, swapping one coin for another, spending it — is a capital gains event, and staking or mining income is usually income. Exchanges share data with HMRC, so the tax position exists whether or not it's been calculated.
If a return is late because HMRC asked for one you don't actually need, it can sometimes be withdrawn entirely — penalties included. And where there's a genuine reasonable excuse, appeals succeed more often than people expect. The wrong move is ignoring the letters.
Subcontractors under the Construction Industry Scheme have 20% deducted at source — often more than their final tax bill once expenses and the personal allowance are counted. That's why CIS refunds are so common: the average claim is well into four figures, but only if the deduction statements are all gathered.
Payments on account catch people out because the first year effectively bills you one-and-a-half years of tax at once. Knowing that in advance changes how you save through the year — and if profits fall, we can apply to reduce the July payment rather than lending HMRC money interest-free.
From April 2026, self-employed people and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 move onto Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: digital records and quarterly updates to HMRC, not one annual return. The year before is the right time to get bookkeeping into shape.
