What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

A high-street accountant in North London typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in The Hyde.

There's no office to fund in The Hyde and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Serving The Hyde

The same service in The Hyde as anywhere — by design

Whether your business trades from The Hyde itself or you simply live there and work everywhere, the tax rules are national — and so are we. The Hyde clients get the same preparers, the same fixed fees and the same deadline tracking as every other town on this site.

Being in London, The Hyde clients often come to us comparing against firms charging central-London rates for the same compliance work. The work is identical; the overheads aren't — and since we carry no premises anywhere, our fees don't care about postcodes.

Questions

The Hyde tax planning FAQs

Is this tax avoidance?

No. We use allowances and reliefs exactly as intended — pensions, ISAs, dividend planning, marriage allowance, timing of income and gains. Nothing we recommend requires disclosure schemes or would trouble an HMRC review. If a plan needs a QC's opinion, it's not our kind of plan.

What's the £100k trap?

Between £100,000 and £125,140 of income you lose the personal allowance at £1 per £2, creating a 60% effective rate — and childcare entitlements can vanish at £100k too. Pension contributions are usually the clean fix. If you're near the line, a review typically pays for itself many times over.

When should company directors do planning?

Two moments: before the company year-end (pension contributions, timing of expenditure) and before 5 April (personal allowances, dividend timing). The pre-year-end session covers both calendars for your dates.

Do I need to visit an office in The Hyde?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in The Hyde or anywhere else in North London.

I searched "tax planning near me" — is this service really local to The Hyde?

The Hyde is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in The Hyde town centre or the edge of North London. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my tax planning?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

Landlord tax has its own rules

Rental profits need reporting once they're more than trivial, and the rules differ for furnished holiday lets, rent-a-room and ordinary lets. Landlords are also in the first wave of Making Tax Digital — property income counts towards the £50,000 threshold.

Your first year in business

The first tax bill is the hardest because it can arrive with payments on account attached — up to 150% of the year's tax in one go. New businesses that save a quarter to a third of profits from day one never feel it.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

The expenses rule is "wholly and exclusively" for the trade — which covers more than most people claim (proportionate home-working costs, business mileage, software subscriptions) and less than some hope (client entertaining, everyday clothing). Knowing the line is where the savings live.

The VAT registration threshold

Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.

Crypto is taxable — and visible

HMRC runs nudge-letter campaigns to crypto holders based on exchange data. If there are undeclared gains in past years, a voluntary disclosure is dramatically cheaper than waiting for the letter — penalties are scaled to cooperation.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

Tax is a cash-flow event

The businesses that struggle with tax bills rarely have a tax problem; they have a timing problem. Knowing the bill in September instead of January — which filing early gives you for free — is the difference between planning and scrambling.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in The Hyde, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
