What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

A high-street accountant in Central London typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We built the opposite: written fixed fees agreed up front, unlimited questions inside the price, and a fully online workflow — no premises anywhere, so no premises priced into your fee in Vintry.

There's no office to fund in Vintry and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

Serving Vintry

The same service in Vintry as anywhere — by design

Vintry sits in Central London (EC4V), and like everywhere we serve, it gets the identical service and fee as central London — because nothing about our work depends on where you are. What matters is your situation, your records and your deadlines; all three travel over WhatsApp just fine.

Being in London, Vintry clients often come to us comparing against firms charging central-London rates for the same compliance work. The work is identical; the overheads aren't — and since we carry no premises anywhere, our fees don't care about postcodes.

Questions

Vintry tax planning FAQs

Is this tax avoidance?

No. We use allowances and reliefs exactly as intended — pensions, ISAs, dividend planning, marriage allowance, timing of income and gains. Nothing we recommend requires disclosure schemes or would trouble an HMRC review. If a plan needs a QC's opinion, it's not our kind of plan.

What's the £100k trap?

Between £100,000 and £125,140 of income you lose the personal allowance at £1 per £2, creating a 60% effective rate — and childcare entitlements can vanish at £100k too. Pension contributions are usually the clean fix. If you're near the line, a review typically pays for itself many times over.

When should company directors do planning?

Two moments: before the company year-end (pension contributions, timing of expenditure) and before 5 April (personal allowances, dividend timing). The pre-year-end session covers both calendars for your dates.

Do I need to visit an office in Vintry?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in Vintry or anywhere else in Central London.

I searched "tax planning near me" — is this service really local to Vintry?

Vintry is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in Vintry town centre or the edge of Central London. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my tax planning?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

The short version of the rules that matter

IR35 and working through a company

If you contract through your own limited company, IR35 asks whether you'd be an employee without it. For medium and large clients, the status decision is theirs; for small clients, it's still yours — and getting it wrong in either direction costs money.

Corporation tax dates work differently

Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.

Penalties escalate on a timetable

Self Assessment lateness is priced in stages: £100 immediately, daily £10 penalties after three months (up to £900), then percentage-based charges at six and twelve months — all separate from interest on unpaid tax. The curve is designed to reward filing sooner, whatever the state of your records.

The VAT registration threshold

Some businesses register for VAT before they must — reclaiming input VAT can be worth it if your customers are VAT-registered themselves. Others should stay below deliberately. It's a real decision with real numbers, not a formality.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

UK residential property sales have their own regime: report and pay within 60 days of completion, separately from Self Assessment. Other gains report annually. Mixing up the two timetables is a common and expensive mistake.

Payments on account, decoded

If your last Self Assessment bill was over £1,000, HMRC usually asks for next year's tax in advance — half on 31 January, half on 31 July. It's the number-one cause of "why is my bill double?" calls, and it's manageable: if your income has dropped, the payments can be reduced with a claim.

Dividends: the allowance is small now

The tax-free dividend allowance is down to £500, so almost any director taking dividends now pays some dividend tax — and needs a Self Assessment return to report it. The classic small-salary-plus-dividends strategy still works; it just needs actual planning rather than folklore.

Sole trader or limited company?

The honest answer changes with your profits. At lower profits, sole trader simplicity usually wins; as profits grow, a limited company's mix of salary and dividends, corporation tax rates and liability protection starts earning its extra admin. We run the actual numbers before recommending either.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in Vintry, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
