Who you're dealing with

We're Bohzo Ltd (Company No. 15031604) — a registered UK company you can look up, not an anonymous website.

VAT returns only (your bookkeeping)£35/mo
VAT + bookkeeping bundle£119/mo

“From” pricing reflects the simplest case; anything more complex is quoted as a fixed fee in writing before work begins — and never changes after.

What makes us different

Online accountants vs the high street

A high-street accountant in Yorkshire typically bills by the hour, meets by appointment and prices each extra question. We work the other way round: one fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, every question included, and the whole engagement handled online — which is exactly why we can serve The Square at fees a walk-in office can't match.

There's no office to fund in The Square and no office to visit: records travel through our secure portal or WhatsApp, approvals happen on your phone, and filings go to HMRC and Companies House electronically. You get the same qualified work — minus the overheads, the travel and the surprises on the invoice.

How it works

VAT Returns in The Square: from first message to filed

Message us from The Square

A WhatsApp message from The Square is enough to start: what you need, what shape your records are in, any deadline you're worried about.

Fixed quote in writing

The quote arrives in writing, covers everything discussed, and is the number you'll actually pay. No revisions later.

Online onboarding

Identity checks, engagement letter, secure record upload — all handled from wherever you are in The Square. We chase whatever's missing.

Approve, then we file

Nothing is filed until you've seen and approved it. Once you have, submission is electronic and confirmation comes straight back.

Serving The Square

The same service in The Square as anywhere — by design

The Square sits in Yorkshire, and like everywhere we serve, it gets the identical service and fee as central London — because nothing about our work depends on where you are. What matters is your situation, your records and your deadlines; all three travel over WhatsApp just fine.

A lot of our Yorkshire clients switched from local firms after one too many surprise invoices. The fix wasn't a cheaper local firm; it was removing the billing model that produces surprises. Fixed fees, in writing, before the work — that's the whole trick.

The Square & around

Where we work around The Square

The Square is part of Yorkshire, with Square, The its nearest neighbour — about 0.0 miles to the north. Geography still shapes who people call, so here's The Square's: the same fixed-fee service covers every place on this list, at the same price.

Questions

The Square vat returns FAQs

When do I have to register for VAT?

When your taxable turnover in any rolling 12-month period passes £90,000 — a rolling test, not your accounting year, and the most common way businesses get caught out. We monitor it for bookkeeping clients automatically.

Which VAT scheme is best for me?

It depends on your margins and customers. The flat-rate scheme suits some service businesses; cash accounting helps if customers pay slowly; standard suits most. We'll compare them for your numbers before registering you.

What is Making Tax Digital?

HMRC's requirement that VAT records are kept digitally and returns filed through compatible software. If you're still on spreadsheets and manual filing, we'll move you across as part of onboarding — it's included.

Do I need to visit an office in The Square?

No — there's nothing to visit and nothing to print. We're an online firm: records go through our secure portal or WhatsApp, and everything is filed electronically. It works the same whether you're in The Square or anywhere else in Yorkshire.

I searched "vat near me" — is this service really local to The Square?

The Square is fully covered, yes. The work is done online, which in practice means more local than an office: same-day replies instead of appointment slots, and the same published fixed fee whether you're in The Square town centre or the edge of Yorkshire. If you'd rather talk it through first, WhatsApp us — a real person answers.

Who will actually handle my vat?

Bohzo Accountants — a trading name of Bohzo Ltd, a registered UK company (No. 15031604). You get a named contact, a fixed fee in writing, and nothing is filed until you've reviewed and approved it.

How do your fixed fees work?

You tell us your situation, we quote one fixed price in writing before any work starts, and that price never changes mid-job. If your case is unusually complex we'll say so up front and agree a different fixed price — but the fee is always agreed before we begin, never after.

Worth knowing

Things worth knowing before your next filing

IR35 and working through a company

Status under IR35 turns on the reality of the engagement: control, substitution, mutuality of obligation. Contracts matter, but working practices matter more. A written status assessment for each engagement is cheap insurance.

Your first year in business

The first tax bill is the hardest because it can arrive with payments on account attached — up to 150% of the year's tax in one go. New businesses that save a quarter to a third of profits from day one never feel it.

Tax is a cash-flow event

The businesses that struggle with tax bills rarely have a tax problem; they have a timing problem. Knowing the bill in September instead of January — which filing early gives you for free — is the difference between planning and scrambling.

Crypto is taxable — and visible

Disposing of crypto — selling, swapping one coin for another, spending it — is a capital gains event, and staking or mining income is usually income. Exchanges share data with HMRC, so the tax position exists whether or not it's been calculated.

Corporation tax dates work differently

Company deadlines run off your accounting year end, not the tax year: corporation tax is payable nine months and one day after year end, and the CT600 return is due twelve months after. Confusingly, the payment is due before the return — a sequencing quirk that catches new directors.

Capital gains: windows and allowances

Timing disposals across tax years, using losses properly, and the spousal transfer rules can all legitimately reduce capital gains bills — but only before the sale. CGT planning after completion is just arithmetic.

Side income and the £1,000 allowance

The trading allowance means up to £1,000 of gross side income per year can be tax-free with no return needed. Above that, registration and reporting kick in — and platforms now report seller data to HMRC, so "under the radar" isn't a strategy any more.

Allowable expenses: claim what's yours

Receipts win arguments. HMRC doesn't demand a shoebox of paper any more — photos in an app are fine — but every deduction needs evidence behind it. A ten-minute weekly habit beats a January archaeology dig, every time.

General guidance, not personal advice — thresholds and dates change. For advice on your own position in The Square, message us and we'll answer against your actual numbers.
