Limited company accountant
Running a limited company comes with a compliance calendar that doesn't care how busy you are: accounts nine months after year end, corporation tax nine months and a day, a confirmation statement every year, RTI every payday. A good limited company accountant makes that calendar their problem — ours does it from £299 a year, fixed.
How we handle it
The £389 bundle is the popular one: statutory accounts, the CT600, and the director's own Self Assessment handled together, so the salary-and-dividend position is planned once and filed consistently everywhere. Add payroll from £25 a month and the whole compliance side of the company runs itself.

Terms you'll meet along the way
Statutory accounts
The formal year-end accounts every company must file at Companies House — publicly visible, prepared to FRS standards.
FRS 105 / FRS 102 1A
The two accounting standards small UK companies use: FRS 105 for micro-entities (minimal disclosure), FRS 102 1A for small companies (fuller picture).
CT600
The corporation tax return filed with HMRC alongside a tax computation — due 12 months after year end, though the tax is due at 9 months and a day.
Accounting reference date
Your company's official year-end date, set at incorporation (changeable within limits). Accounts are due 9 months after it.
Marginal relief
The taper between the 19% small-profits rate and the 25% main rate for profits between £50k and £250k — with an effective 26.5% rate inside the band.
Associated companies
Companies under common control split the £50k/£250k thresholds between them — the rule that catches owners of more than one company.
Full expensing
100% first-year deduction on qualifying new plant and machinery for companies — timing purchases around year end matters.
RTI
Real Time Information — the rule that HMRC must receive a payroll submission on or before every payday, not at year end.
Limited company accountant: your questions answered
What does a limited company accountant actually do for £299?
Prepares your statutory year-end accounts to the right standard (FRS 105 or FRS 102 1A), files them at Companies House, prepares the corporation tax computation and CT600 for HMRC, and gives you a plain-English summary: what you made, what you owe, what to do next. Deadlines tracked all year.
Should I pay myself salary or dividends?
Almost always a mix, and the right mix changes with the tax year's thresholds. The classic small-salary-plus-dividends approach still works for most owner-directors, but the exact numbers matter — we set them as part of the accounts bundle rather than leaving it to habit.
My company accounts are already overdue — can you take it on?
Yes, and quickly: late accounts trigger automatic Companies House penalties that double if you're late two years running, so speed matters. We've rescued accounts that were months overdue; the fee stays fixed regardless of how untidy the records are.
My company hasn't traded — do I still need to file?
Yes. Even dormant companies must file accounts at Companies House and usually a confirmation statement. Our dormant package (£99) handles it all so you avoid penalties for a company that isn't even trading.
Which accounting standard will my accounts use?
Most small companies file micro-entity accounts under FRS 105 or small-company accounts under FRS 102 Section 1A. We pick the right one for your size and circumstances — it affects what's disclosed publicly at Companies House, and we'll explain the trade-offs.
What rate of corporation tax will my company pay?
19% on profits up to £50,000, 25% above £250,000, and marginal relief in between — an effective rate that climbs gradually. Associated companies split those thresholds, which catches many owners with more than one company. We calculate it precisely.
The payment is due before the return — is that right?
Yes, oddly: payment is due 9 months and 1 day after year end, but the return itself isn't due until 12 months. We prepare everything well before the payment date so you know the bill with time to plan.
I'm the only employee of my company — do I need payroll?
If you pay yourself a salary, yes — you need a PAYE scheme and RTI submissions even for one person. Director-only payroll is our most popular package at £25/mo, and we set the salary at the most tax-efficient level for you.
What is auto-enrolment and does it apply to me?
Every employer must assess staff for a workplace pension and enrol eligible employees. Even if your only staff member is you as director, you have duties to declare. We handle assessments, letters and declarations as part of the service.
What actually is a confirmation statement?
An annual snapshot confirming that what Companies House holds about your company — directors, shareholders, PSCs, SIC codes, registered office — is correct. It replaced the old annual return. There's no tax in it and no accounts; it's purely about the register being right.
When is mine due?
Within 14 days of the end of your 12-month review period, which usually runs from your incorporation anniversary or your last statement. Dormant companies file too. If you're not sure of your date, tell us your company number and we'll look it up — it takes a minute.
What does the £129 fee include?
Preparation and online filing of your full SA100 return, including the supplementary pages your situation needs. If your return is more complex — rental income, capital gains — the packages above show the fixed price, and we confirm it in writing before starting.
I've missed the deadline — can you still help?
Yes. Late returns are common and fixable: we prepare and file the outstanding return quickly, and where there's a reasonable excuse we help you appeal penalties. The sooner it's filed, the sooner the penalties stop growing.
